How to reverse audio
- Choose an audio file that your browser can decode.
- Wait while the browser decodes and reverses the samples.
- Compare the original and reversed previews.
- Download the reversed result as a WAV file.
What the tool changes
The tool reverses the order of PCM samples independently inside each channel. In stereo audio, the left channel stays left and the right channel stays right. Duration, sample rate, channel count, and sample count are preserved before WAV conversion.
WAV output
The reversed result is exported as an uncompressed 16-bit PCM WAV. Decoded browser audio uses floating-point samples, so export safely clamps values to the valid range and quantizes them to signed 16-bit PCM. The output is not bit-for-bit identical to a compressed source file.
Privacy and limitations
Processing uses the Web Audio API and typed arrays in this tab. No audio content or filename is sent to a function, storage service, analytics endpoint, or external processor. Browser codec support varies. An unsupported codec will show an error rather than upload the file elsewhere.
Input files above 25 MB are rejected before decoding. Decoded PCM above the tested 64 MB buffer boundary is also rejected. These conservative limits reduce the risk of excessive allocation, but available memory still varies by browser and device.
