Formula and worked example
Weighted average = Σ(value × weight) / Σ(weight). Weights do not need to total 100 because the formula divides by the actual total weight.
For 80 at weight 20, 90 at weight 30, and 100 at weight 50, the weighted sum is 9,300 and total weight is 100, so the weighted average is 93.
Calculations use full internal precision and trim insignificant trailing zeros for display. Confirm any rounding rule required by a course, workplace, publication, or technical standard.

Weights and edge cases
A row with weight 0 is allowed and contributes nothing to the weighted sum or total weight.
Negative weights are rejected because they are outside ordinary weighted-average use.
If every weight is zero, the result is undefined and the calculator asks for a positive total weight.
Decimal values and decimal weights are supported without rounding each product before the final division.
