How it works
The browser validates and decodes WebP image data, paints it onto the selected solid background, and encodes a new image/jpeg Blob. This is a real format conversion, not an extension rename.
Output, dimensions, and metadata
JPEG cannot store transparency. Transparent and partly transparent source pixels are deliberately flattened onto the selected background color; white is the default. JPEG output is lossy. Exported images may not retain the source file's metadata; do not rely on metadata preservation. The exported image follows the browser-decoded visual orientation. Browser Canvas may normalize color behavior, so this is a practical conversion rather than a promise of professional ICC-profile equivalence.
Browser compatibility and limits
WebP decoding and JPEG Canvas export are available in current major browsers. If this browser cannot decode a particular WebP file, the tool reports the failure without uploading it.
Files are limited to 25 MB, 40 megapixels, and 12,000 pixels per side. Replace or reset an image to release the prior decoded buffer.
