Mendota Heights and Saint Paul are distinct parts of the origin record
The Ann Bancroft Foundation identifies Mendota Heights as Bancroft’s birthplace. Minnesota Public Radio’s archive separately records that she was raised in Saint Paul.
Those claims should not be collapsed into “born and raised in Saint Paul.” The statewide and city directories retain the two places as separate, source-supported relationships.
Teaching preceded the best-known expeditions
The foundation biography describes Bancroft as an educator as well as an explorer. That background is part of the career sequence rather than a footnote added after the expeditions.
