Photo Usage and Rights

The official photo library provides public high-resolution reference images. Public viewing and search indexing do not grant reuse rights; permission must come from the applicable rights holder.

Usage basics

What publishers, partners, and researchers should know

Editorial Reuse may be available by request

Newsrooms, documentary producers, biography researchers, and other editorial users should request written confirmation for the exact photograph and use.

Commercial Written approval is required

Advertising, endorsements, paid campaigns, merchandise, partner promotions, and other commercial uses require written approval unless a photo-specific agreement states otherwise.

Attribution Credit lines vary by photograph

Use only the credit supplied with the approved file. Do not infer a photographer or copyright holder when the gallery does not identify one.

Third parties Outside material remains controlled by its owner

Broadcasters, publishers, photographers, venues, teams, collaborators, and other outside parties retain any rights they hold in their own material. Josh’s authority to publish an image does not automatically transfer third-party copyright or sublicensing authority.

Image integrity Disclosures travel with the image

Restored photographs, AI-assisted retouches, editorial composites, and materially altered images are labeled when applicable. Those disclosures must not be removed or obscured.

People and privacy Participant permission matters

Images involving children, medical or mobility contexts, housing, private residences, or vulnerable people may require additional consent review and are not offered as automatic downloads.

Request process

Include enough detail to review the request accurately.

  • The photo title or a link to its gallery card.
  • The publisher, program, publication, organization, or partner making the request.
  • The intended editorial, documentary, educational, commercial, or partner use.
  • Planned placement, distribution channels, territory, and publication date.
  • The requested file size or format and any deadline.
File information

Public files include descriptive metadata and a reuse contact.

Photo titles, captions, credits, and public rights information travel with the approved high-resolution files. Contact the media team if a publication needs an untouched original, alternate format, or custom crop.
