Fairmont Athletic Hall of Fame
The Fairmont Athletic Hall of Fame dates to 1990, when charter members included longtime coach Herb Wolf. After a later hiatus, the induction program resumed and continues to recognize athletes, coaches and supporters whose work shaped Cardinal activities.
Recent classes show that the program is broader than a list of star athletes. The 2026 class included graduates from 1955 through 2009 and recognized contributions ranging from competition to decades of support for school activities.

Fairmont's athletics footprint extends beyond the high school. The city's parks system includes the Winnebago Avenue Sports Complex, Herb Wolf Field and recreation areas around the lakes. The public record connects school competition, summer baseball, parks and community participation rather than treating athletics as a single program.

A May 2016 Fairmont Sentinel profile documents Liljenquist's senior-year return to track. Photo Press then reported a 10.9-second 100 and 23.0-second 200, and identified him on Fairmont's first-place 4×100 relay.
The state-meet results list Liljenquist, Wyatt Quiring, Peter Erickson and Cody Fischer on Fairmont's 4×100. The relay placed third in the Class A final in 43.71 seconds; contemporaneous local coverage called it a Fairmont school record.
Photo Press also named Liljenquist one of Fairmont Track's 2016 Rookie of the Year recipients. These records support track participation and the specific results above; they do not establish cross-country participation or captaincy.
