Formula and worked example
Scale factor = target servings ÷ original servings. Every scaled quantity equals original quantity × factor. Inputs accept decimals, simple fractions, mixed numbers, and the documented Unicode fractions.
4 servings scaled to 6 gives factor 1.5; 2 cups becomes 3 cups. Scaling 1 1/2 by 0.5 gives 3/4.
Assumptions and limits
Ingredient scaling is arithmetic. Cooking time, temperature, pan behavior, seasoning, rise, and food safety may not scale proportionally.
Dynamic ingredient tools support up to 100 rows. Calculations require finite bounded values, retain full internal precision, and round only for display.
Calculation-only boundary
This utility does not provide nutrition, allergy, substitution, food-safety, cooking-doneness, or medical advice. Confirm recipe-specific technique and safe preparation separately.
