Measured fuel economy

Gas Mileage Calculator

Calculate gas mileage from distance traveled and fuel used, including total-distance and odometer modes.

Enter distance and fuel used

Enter values and select Calculate.

Exact unit normalization

Distance is normalized using 1 mile = 1.609344 km. Fuel is normalized using 1 US gallon = 3.785411784 liters. MPG, km/L, and L/100 km are derived from those normalized quantities.

Measured mileage boundary

This tool calculates fuel economy from entered distance and fuel used. It does not estimate trip cost, routes, fuel prices, emissions, or vehicle ratings. Use Fuel Cost Calculator when fuel economy is already known.

Worked example

Traveling 300 miles using 10 US gallons produces 30 MPG. The same measurement is approximately 12.7543 km/L and 7.8405 L/100 km.

Calculation boundaries

Results depend on the values entered and provide arithmetic estimates only. They do not retrieve listings, market prices, approval rules, investment data, vehicle data, fuel prices, routes, or professional advice.
