Date and time utility

Decimal Hours Calculator

Convert between clock-style hours and decimal hours. The reverse conversion rounds to the nearest whole minute so the result stays practical and readable.

Conversion direction

Enter values and calculate.

Method

Hours and minutes become decimal hours with hours + minutes ÷ 60. In reverse, decimal hours are multiplied by 60 and rounded to the nearest whole minute; 1.5 hours becomes 1 hour 30 minutes.

Worked example

2 hours 45 minutes = 2 + 45/60 = 2.75 decimal hours. In reverse, 3.25 decimal hours = 3 hours 15 minutes.

Limits and assumptions

Hours must be nonnegative and no more than 1,000,000. Minutes must be a whole number from 0 through 59. Decimal input supports up to 10 decimal places. This is a duration converter, not a payroll or time-card calculator.

Date and time privacy

All supported calculations run locally with validated text and date-only arithmetic where appropriate. These educational utilities do not send entered values to a server, infer a location, or make professional scheduling decisions for you.
