Browser-local random picker

Random Language Generator

Pick languages at random from active two-letter primary language subtags in the frozen IANA registry, with codes and unique results.

Pick from 184 reviewed entries

The tool will be ready after its local script initializes.

How it works

The frozen pool includes active two-letter primary language subtags and their registry descriptions. Deprecated records, extended subtags, scripts, regions, and private-use codes are excluded.

Selection uses the site’s audited rejection-sampling randomizer engine. Unique mode uses a partial Fisher–Yates shuffle so one reviewed entry is not favored over another.

Worked example

Request 3 unique results to receive language names together with their two-letter IANA subtags.

Use Copy for one result or Copy all for the displayed batch.

Scope and limitations

This is a transparent standards-based subset, not a complete catalog of every language, dialect, sign language, historical language, or writing system.
