Browser-local random picker

Random City Generator

Pick real cities at random from a reviewed GeoNames-based local dataset, with optional continent filtering and unique results.

Pick from 1,209 reviewed entries

The tool will be ready after its local script initializes.

How it works

The frozen dataset includes GeoNames populated places with a recorded population of at least 500,000. Population is used only as a transparent inclusion threshold and is not displayed as a current fact.

Selection uses the site’s audited rejection-sampling randomizer engine. Unique mode uses a partial Fisher–Yates shuffle so one reviewed entry is not favored over another.

Worked example

Choose “Europe” and a quantity of 3 to draw three reviewed European city records.

Use Copy for one result or Copy all for the displayed batch.

Scope and limitations

This selects real place names. It does not invent fictional city names, rank destinations, provide travel advice, or claim exhaustive global coverage.

Dataset source: GeoNames cities15000 and countryInfo exports. Frozen for this local release candidate on October 6, 2026. Data licensing notices.
