Stable en-US, case- and diacritic-insensitive collation; original reference text is retained.

Method and worked example

Reference blocks separated by blank lines are kept intact. When no blank lines exist, each nonempty line is treated as one reference. A separate normalized key is compared with a stable Intl.Collator configuration; only block order changes.

Smith, Doe, and Brown references are returned as Brown, Doe, Smith. Multi-line blocks move as whole units, and tied keys retain their original order.

Scope and limitations

This alphabetizes visible reference text; it does not guarantee APA, MLA, Chicago, or another style’s special semantic ordering rules.

Review the output before using it in academic, publishing, or identity workflows.
