For an 11-digit body, digits in odd positions are multiplied by three, digits in even positions by one, and the check digit makes the total a multiple of ten. A supplied 12th digit must match. The final GTIN-12 value is encoded as a real UPC-A symbol with guard patterns and quiet zones.
Worked example
The clearly labeled test body 03600029145 calculates check digit 2, producing TEST / EXAMPLE DATA 036000291452. It is used only to demonstrate arithmetic and encoding, not to identify an owned or registered product.
Behavior and limits

A mathematically valid check digit does not prove that a number is assigned, unique, or accepted by a retailer or marketplace.

Black bars on white are fixed for reliable contrast. Broad symbols require at least ten quiet-zone modules; UPC-A uses eleven in this tool. No arbitrary size is claimed universally scanner-safe.
