Classical mechanics calculator

Torque Calculator

Calculate general force-times-lever-arm torque with the angle between the force and arm entered in degrees.

Choose a torque variable

Enter values and select Calculate.

General torque model

τ = rF sin(θ), where θ is the 0–180° angle between the lever arm and force vector. Reverse force and arm modes require a nonzero sine and denominator.

Fastener and vehicle boundary

This general mechanics tool does not recommend bolt, lug, fastener, engine, medical, or structural-connection torque. At 0° or 180°, forward torque is zero and reverse division is undefined.
