Walls, openings, and coats
Gross walls = 2 × (length + width) × height. Editable door and window areas are subtracted without going below zero. Optional ceiling area is length × width. Net area is multiplied by coats.
Coverage assumption
Calculated gallons = coated area ÷ entered coverage; whole gallons are rounded up visibly. Actual needs vary with texture, primer, color change, application method, and product coverage.
Worked example
A 12 ft by 10 ft room with 8 ft walls has a 44 ft perimeter and 352 sq ft gross wall area before doors and windows are subtracted.
