Calculate
Method and assumptions
Physical inches = pixels ÷ PPI. Pixels = physical inches × PPI. Centimeters = inches × 2.54. The reverse mode reports the theoretical pixel result and a separately rounded whole-pixel grid.
Worked example
A 3000 × 2400 pixel image at 300 PPI corresponds to 10 × 8 inches (25.4 × 20.32 cm). A target of 8 × 10 inches at 300 PPI requires 2400 × 3000 pixels.
Limitations
PPI is an editable assumption, not a universal pixel-to-inch ratio. Printer ink dots are not image pixels, and CSS pixels do not necessarily equal physical display pixels. This tool does not upload, resize, resample, or add image detail.
Frequently asked question
Does changing PPI create image detail?
No. It changes the physical-size interpretation of an existing pixel grid; it cannot add source pixels.
