Enter a number and convert it.
Number in words
Supported format
Use optional commas, one leading minus sign, and up to 15 whole-number digits. Decimal digits are read individually after “point” so 12.05 becomes “twelve point zero five.” The converter uses the short scale: thousand, million, billion, and trillion.
Method and limits
The converter separates the whole number into three-digit groups, names each group, and joins the nonzero groups from trillions through ones. It uses American English without an optional “and” inside whole numbers. Decimal digits are read one at a time to preserve leading and trailing zeroes. This is a general writing aid, not a check-writing, legal-document, currency, tax, or localization system. Confirm required wording, hyphenation, currency units, and jurisdictional rules before using the result in a formal record.
