LC Resonant Frequency Calculator

Solve the ideal LC resonance relationship for frequency, inductance, or capacitance using the other two known values.

Calculate

Enter values and calculate.

Formula and method

Ideal f = 1 / (2π√(LC)). Rearranging gives L = 1 / ((2πf)²C) and C = 1 / ((2πf)²L). Inductance, capacitance, and frequency are normalized to H, F, and Hz before solving.

Worked example

L = 10 mH and C = 100 nF give ideal f ≈ 5,032.9212 Hz. Reverse modes solve L or C from a known frequency and the other component.

Limits and safety

Ideal undamped LC arithmetic only. Q factor, bandwidth, losses, oscillator stability, RF performance, and parasitic L/C are not modeled.
