Method

Synchronizes the standard nine rwx bits with exactly three octal digits. The example filename is fixed text and is never treated as a path.

Worked example

755 produces owner rwx, group r-x, others r-x, symbolic rwxr-xr-x, and the copyable text “chmod 755 filename”.

Limitations

This page generates inert text only. It does not run chmod, access files, request filesystem permission, or cover ACLs, ownership, SELinux/AppArmor, recursion, or special permission bits.
