How it works
Each beat is 60 ÷ BPM seconds apart: 60 BPM = 1 second, 120 BPM = 0.5 second, and 180 BPM ≈ 0.3333 second. A 25 ms look-ahead timer schedules click oscillators on the Web Audio clock about 120 ms ahead; it does not use setInterval as the sound clock.
Example and limits
At 120 BPM with four beats per measure, the click is scheduled every 0.5 seconds; beat one can be accented.
Playback timing depends on the browser, device, and audio output latency. Beat-count selection is not a complete theory of time signatures. The separate BPM Tapper measures an unknown tempo; this Metronome plays a chosen tempo. No autoplay or microphone access.
