Home-project material estimate
Flooring Calculator
Add one or more rectangular rooms, choose a waste allowance, then estimate purchase area and whole boxes from the coverage printed on your flooring package.

Area details
Purchase quantities are estimates. Check actual product coverage, room measurements, cuts, and supplier packaging.
How it works
Each rectangular area is length × width. Add the areas, then multiply by 1 + waste allowance ÷ 100. Divide the adjusted area by your package coverage and round up to whole packages. Purchased coverage is package count × package coverage; excess is purchased coverage minus measured net area.
Measurements are converted to one internal unit before area is calculated. Feet or inches display ft²; meters or centimeters display m².
Worked example
A 12 ft × 10 ft room is 120 ft². With 10% waste, plan for 132 ft². At 20 ft² per box, round 6.6 up to 7 boxes; those boxes cover 140 ft², or 20 ft² more than the measured floor.
This is a general flooring estimate, not a tile layout. For individual tile and grout geometry, use the existing Tile Calculator.
