How to use it
Write formulas with case-sensitive element symbols, numeric subscripts, parentheses, +, and one -> or → arrow. Select Balance. Read the balanced equation and atom check.
Method and worked example
Each compound becomes an element-count column. Exact rational row reduction finds a unique coefficient ratio; denominators are cleared and the integers reduced by their greatest common divisor. The final counts are checked independently on both sides.
Example
Fe + O2 → Fe2O3 becomes 4 Fe + 3 O2 → 2 Fe2O3.
Assumptions and limitations
Supports neutral molecular equations, nested parentheses, and one-dimensional positive solution spaces. It does not predict reactions, support ions/charges, hydrates, phase labels, electron transfer, pre-entered coefficients, or ambiguous multi-solution equations. This is not chemistry safety or laboratory handling guidance.
