Helping a Stranger With a Popped Tire

Are you all ready on your spare? Oh, yes. Yeah. [music] And that one's leaking, too?

Yes. How often do you have to fill it? Every day. I have the air compressor, but if it blows, [music] you're stuck then, right?

Absolutely. Where are you headed? I live up there now. I visit my granddaughter.

And it's scary with these tires, but I just got back into her life. You just got into her life? Yeah. [music] Congrats.

Thank you. Why weren't you in her life before? Because I was on for ever. And you're off now?

I'm off for a year and a half years. I'm so proud of you. How does it feel? Amazing.

God is good. He's been good to you? Yes. When I first got clean, I was so mad at him.

I'm not even sure if I believed in him, but then I realized that it was me making them choices, choosing the wrong path, not him. I just got my own place, first time ever. You have your own place? Yeah, first time ever in my life.

So, do you have enough money to repair this tire? No. It took me 3 [music] months to save up for the plugs and wires. It's going to be probably winter that I could [music] get a spare.

What made you get sober? I was using since I was 13. I was just tired of it. I didn't want to do it anymore.

I wanted the life I've always [music] dreamed of. You know, I've always dreamed of having my own vehicle, having my family back, [music] having my own place. I just wanted a bill in my name that I could pay. Do you have that?

I have that. I have that in spades. Yeah? What would you tell someone if they think that they're too far gone?

Anything is possible. [music] I got the life I've always dreamed of. I never ever thought that would happen. You've fought so hard to keep your family in your life, and you shouldn't be one blown tire [music] away from that.

Could we be able to pay for new tires? No. God, no. Well, I'm going to.
