Months ago, we met a homeless veteran [music] who offered me what he had and then he told me this. Little ass boy, 5 days I ain't see my daughter. Shortly after this, Lamondo found a job but he was still stuck at a shelter burdened by a debt he couldn't pay. Many of you stepped up to help this homeless veteran get an apartment and today I get to surprise him with something that will completely change his life.
I got something for you. You got something for me? Yeah, you mind taking your hat off? Uh, sure.
Put this on. All right. You trust me, right? Yeah, I got you.
Okay, grab my hand. Follow me, we're going to go to my car, okay? All right. How long you been living at the shelter for?
This one has been about 2 and 1/2, maybe 3 months and [singing] a half. I'm going to put you in the back [music] seat, is that cool? Yeah. What's the hardest part about living in the shelter when you're trying to work?
Not being able to have my daughter, honestly. [music] That's probably the main thing. I mean, I created her and I I took her. It's been like a half a year I haven't [clears throat] actually touched [music] or held my daughter, so.
It it it it definitely does something to you. I don't want to ever fall behind again. What are you most proud of? Becoming the supervisor of my job recently.
You're a supervisor? Yeah, I I got a promotion like a few months ago. Do you feel like being homeless living at the shelter [music] is keeping you back? Yes.
Have you thought about getting your own place? Yeah, I did. So, the the only thing that's really holding me back is like I owe something on my [music] credit. It's close to 2,000.
It's close to 2,000? Yeah, it's so out of money, man. What would your own place mean to you? Man, it'd mean the world to me, honestly.
Like, I would be able to spend more free time with my child. [music] I FaceTime her and then I financially help her out right now. So, until you find [music] your own place, you can't see your daughter? Basically, man.
Her mom can't just give a homeless man our [music] child and say, "Spend time with her for a few weeks." So, it's just how the world work, I guess. All right, Lamondo. Grab my hand. Okay, stay right there.
[music] When I count down from three, I want you to take your blindfold off, okay? Three, two, one. [music] This is for you. Oh my god.
Is this apartment? [laughter] I got one more thing. Yeah. That's $10,000.
[music] You're joking. You can stay wherever you want. Is this This is This is joke. This is my money.
No. Bro, what? Oh my god. Oh my god, y'all.
Thank you. [laughter] Oh my god. THANK YOU. [laughter] THIS IS THE GREATEST GIFT I EVER had in my life.
You're the greatest guy ever, bro. I'm sorry. It wasn't just me, man. There was a lot of people who came together.
They heard your story. They wanted to be able to help you out. I appreciate all of them, bro. I can have my daughter.
Y'all really saved somebody's life today. [laughter]
