I'm my blood sugar's low. Do [music] you have anything with sugar? Yeah, I got you, man. You sure?
I got much, but I got Oh, that's okay. Yeah, you can have them, I don't need The whole thing? Yeah. Do you live here?
Yeah, this is my spot. Do you live in the house? No. [music] Is it your house?
Yeah, it's my my family's house. Why don't you live there? We got a fire, so I'm staying in here until the house is done [music] being rebuilt. It's been a long time, but it's being rebuilt.
Is it just you who lives here? Yeah. Who lived in the house? My whole family.
Where does your family live now? [music] Temporary property. How many people? Four of us.
Me and my mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Great-grandmother? [music] Yes. How old is she?
She's 99 today. She'll be 100 this December. Has it been hard for your grandma? Yeah, it's been a lot.
How old are you? 26. 26 and the man of the house? Yeah.
So, when's the house supposed to be fixed? Hopefully in the next month. [music] Do you mind if I give you a hug? Yeah, that's cool.
Man, you're like my age, bro. What the heck? You've been through so much. What happens if you can't move back in?
I'll move I'll live in there right now if [music] I could. The city won't let that happen. How much money did you put into rebuilding it? Over half a million dollars into rebuilding it, and the company took that and is claiming that we still owe them money.
It's taking over 2 years. How long have you lived in here? About this April, so it's been a few months now. Does it have AC?
It doesn't really work. That's why I'm sweating right now. It's hot. I got fans, though.
Dude, it's 100° out. So, what's [music] the hardest part about watching your family go through this? This is where I grew up. I've lived here my whole life.
This is all I know, but seeing my mom have to go through all this, lost her her [music] dog, which is like my sister. Lost your dog in the fire? In the fire, yes. Oh, man.
I ran in the house and tried to save her. She usually would sleep underneath my bed. I'm looking underneath my bed. I didn't [music] see her.
You risked your life for the dog? I don't know. Yeah, I did. Oh, bless your soul, man.
I'd do the same. After all you've been through, the city hasn't been able to do anything for you guys? [music] No. Really?
I wish I could do something to get you into the house right now. So, here, take these back, brother. My blood sugar's not low. I actually had something for you.
I want you to do me a favor, okay? Go get [music] an AC unit, bro. I know it's not going to bring the house back, but at least I want you to be comfortable living in here. You sure?
I'm sure, [music] man. Sure, dude. Thank you. Can I get a hug?
Yeah, sure. Man, I'm sorry for everything you've been through, dude.
