Printable Handwriting Practice Paper Maker

Make writing-practice sheets with a solid top guide, adjustable middle guide and clear baseline. Choose Letter or A4, add descender space or a picture box, then export vector PDF or SVG without signup or upload.

Make handwriting paper

The default is a single Letter portrait practice sheet. Dimensions are calculated in physical units, not screen pixels. Presets are editable layouts, not universal grade or school standards.

Layout and writing guides

Each row has a solid top guide, a middle guide and a heavier baseline. The middle guide may sit from 20% to 80% of the writing-zone height.

Descenders and picture area

The picture box stays inside the writing margins. Complete handwriting rows begin below it; partial rows are never printed.

Margins and appearance

Header space is blank and can be used for a handwritten name or date. All margins must leave a usable writing area.

Live page preview

Letter portrait, Primary Writing, 0.75-inch writing zones.

The preview scales the same point geometry used for PDF and SVG. Printer hardware margins or fit-to-page settings may still change the physical print.

How to use the handwriting guides

Each complete row has a solid top line, an adjustable dashed, dotted or lighter middle guide, and a slightly heavier baseline. Enable a separate descender guide for extra space below the baseline. The tool does not print letters or teach a particular handwriting curriculum.

  1. Choose a layout preset and Letter or A4 paper.
  2. Adjust writing-zone height, midline position, margins, and optional descender space.
  3. Turn on Picture + Writing to reserve a measured drawing box above the rows.
  4. Preview, download PDF or SVG, or print at Actual Size/100% using the matching paper. Disable Fit to Page for measured spacing.

Physical row measurement

The maker converts inches or millimeters to 72-point-per-inch page coordinates. A row fits only when its baseline and optional descender guide are above the bottom content boundary. A fixed 0.16-inch gap separates complete rows; the gap after the final row is not required. The displayed count uses this rule.

Privacy and limitations

Settings and generated pages stay in this browser tab. No account, upload or saved document is involved. Presets are flexible layouts, not grade-level, district or developmental standards. Printers can impose margins or scaling, so measure a test print if exact dimensions matter.
