Protocol scope and URL behavior

V1 accepts at most 500 lines and credential-free absolute HTTP or HTTPS URLs up to 2,048 characters each. It emits the Sitemaps 0.9 urlset namespace, loc, and optional date-only lastmod. It does not emit priority or changefreq.

Browser URL serialization converts Unicode hosts to ASCII/punycode and removes default ports. Encoded paths and trailing-slash differences remain distinct. Fragments, unsupported schemes, malformed URLs, control characters, and duplicates after serialization are rejected. XML text is escaped once. The 500-line product limit is below the protocol ceiling and is documented rather than presented as a protocol limit.
