Volumetric Weight Calculator

Enter the divisor supplied by your carrier or service to calculate volumetric weight. The higher-of comparison is arithmetic, not a billing determination.

Enter measurements

The divisor is required and has no universal default. Changing the unit system changes the meaning of the entries; re-enter values in the displayed units.

Calculated result

Enter values and select Calculate.

Method

Package volume = length × width × height in the selected dimension unit. Volumetric weight per package = package volume ÷ your entered divisor. Multiply by the number of identical packages for the total. The divisor units must match the selected system: cm³/kg or in³/lb. No carrier rule is preselected.

Worked example

Using a hypothetical, user-entered divisor of 5,000 cm³/kg, a 40 × 30 × 20 cm package has a volume of 24,000 cm³ and a volumetric weight of 4.8 kg. The example is not a statement of any carrier’s current rule.

Carrier and billing limits

Actual service rules can specify different divisors, rounding, minimums, package aggregation, and other charges. The optional higher-of result compares two entered numbers mathematically; it is not billable weight. This calculator does not estimate rates, surcharges, or service eligibility. Confirm the divisor and applicable rules with your carrier.
