Steps per mile = 63,360 inches ÷ measured step length in inches. Other modes normalize all lengths to meters before division or multiplication.
Worked example
A measured 30-inch step length gives 63,360 ÷ 30 = 2,112 steps per mile.
Important limitation
A step is one footfall to the next; a stride commonly contains two steps. This tool does not estimate step length from height or provide calories or medical exercise targets.
