Combining Like Terms Calculator

Combine structured x terms and constants in a bounded one-variable linear expression.

Enter values

Enter values and calculate.

Method

Entered x coefficients are summed exactly; entered constants are summed separately. The two group totals are formatted as one simplified linear expression.

Worked example

3x + 2 โˆ’ 5x + 7 groups to (3 โˆ’ 5)x + (2 + 7), producing โˆ’2x + 9.

Important limitation

V1 supports up to six structured x or constant terms. It does not accept exponents, xy terms, functions, equation solving, or unrestricted symbolic expressions.
