Shipping and logistics arithmetic

CBM Calculator

Add package rows to total cubic meters (CBM) across different rectangular cargo pieces. Each row has its own dimensions, unit, and quantity.

Enter measurements

Use 1–12 rows. Dimensions are outside measurements of one package in each row.

Calculated result

Enter values and select Calculate.

Method

Convert each length, width, and height to meters. Multiply them to get one package’s cubic meters, then multiply by its quantity. Total CBM is the sum of all row totals. One cubic meter is approximately 35.3147 cubic feet.

Worked example

A 100 × 50 × 40 cm package is 1 × 0.5 × 0.4 = 0.20 m³. Ten identical packages total 2.0 CBM.

What CBM does not tell you

CBM measures geometric volume only. It does not establish container fit, stacking arrangement, weight, billable weight, freight class, carrier acceptance, or shipping price. Measure the actual outside package dimensions and account separately for pallets or protective packaging.
