Formula and example
Contribution per unit = selling price - variable cost per unit. Whole break-even units = fixed costs ÷ contribution, rounded up. For $10,000 fixed costs, $50 price and $30 variable cost, contribution is $20 and break-even is 500 units. The calculator keeps entered money in integer cents.
Limits and privacy
If price is no greater than variable cost, there is no finite break-even volume in this model. This is a simple one-product estimate, not business, tax, or financial advice. It excludes capacity limits, changing prices, mixed products, and taxes. Inputs stay in browser memory and are not uploaded, saved, or included in URLs.
