Quartile and outlier method
Values sort numerically. For odd n the overall median is excluded from both halves; Q1 and Q3 are the medians of those halves. For n=1 all quartiles equal the observation. Fences are Q1/Q3 ± 1.5×IQR; whiskers end at the most extreme observed values inside the fences. Other software may use another quantile convention. Bound: 10,000 observations.
