Cause & Effect Graphic Organizer

Four printable pages for mapping one cause to multiple effects, multiple causes to one effect, or a cause-and-effect chain.

What’s inside

  • One Cause → Three Effects.
  • Three Causes → One Effect.
  • Four-step Cause → Effect chain.
  • Completed rainfall and runoff example.

Organizer structure

Each page uses labeled boxes and directional arrows to show which event comes first and which outcome follows. Arrow direction, placement, and text carry the relationship, so the logic remains clear in grayscale.

The chain page supports a sequence in which one effect can become the next cause. The completed example demonstrates the layout without using student information.

How to print and use

  1. Download the Letter or A4 kit.
  2. Print in landscape orientation at Actual Size or Fit.
  3. Select the layout that matches the relationship you want to map, then follow the arrows from causes to effects.

Privacy and limits: these static files do not collect or store names, assignments, notes, or classroom content. The organizer supports general causal reasoning; it does not prove that a relationship is causal.
