Formula and worked example

Formula: projᵦ(A) = ((A · B)/(B · B))B

For A = (3, 4) and B = (1, 0), projᵦ(A) = (3, 0).

Method and limitations

Components are parsed as finite decimal values, normalized internally as numeric arrays, and calculated with deterministic browser floating-point arithmetic. Supported dimensions are 2D and 3D.

Projection onto the zero vector is undefined. The selected source and basis direction is always shown.

Inputs are bounded to absolute values from 10⁻¹⁰⁰ through 10¹⁰⁰ when nonzero. Results are rounded only for display.
