Classical physics calculator

Specific Gravity Calculator

Compare a sample density with an explicit reference density and reverse-solve any one quantity.

Inputs

Result

Initializing.

Formula and worked example

Specific gravity = sample density ÷ reference density. The reference is explicit and editable; the default 1000 kg/m³ is a convenient approximate water reference, not a universal exact constant. 800 ÷ 1000 = 0.8.

Scope and limitations

Dimensionless density ratio only. Reference conditions matter. This tool does not identify materials, infer temperature, measure density, or replace the separate Density Calculator.
